Polyethylene films incubated in aerobic and anaerobic bioreactors did not degrade over the course of 4-week to 25-week exposure periods(1). Similar experiments conducted using aerobic and anaerobic bioreactors concluded no biodegradation of polyethylene occurred over 40-70 day incubation periods(2)
